YEAR 4

The year is finished, and it has been a challenging year. Those who kept going and tried their best should be proud of their efforts. It was good to be back to class in person in Term 4 and we also had the opportunity to go on camp. Those who went had a fun, but tiring trip and it was good to see the students enjoying themselves.

Term 4 was busy! Year 4’s worked on narrative writing and they wrote some great, very imaginative stories. I enjoyed reading them and seeing where their imagination had taken them. They also had the chance to type and illustrate their narrative into a children’s book format. There were some well-illustrated stories.

The last few maths topics for this term focused on measurement, mass and temperature. We also worked on maps and scale. There was some hard work and a lot of effort to get through this term’s topics and overall, I saw an improvement in students’ test results this term.

In P.E., we learnt the rules and the game of handball, which is a mix of basketball and soccer. Year 4’s must work on their sportsmanship. There was good effort by all, to join in every game. In Art, we worked with different mediums, doing some faux metal embossing, making paper mosaics, using paint and pencil to try abstract and pop art forms. In Science, our final unit was on materials and we completed a few small experiments like testing the water absorbency/resistance of various materials. Linking our Science to STEM, each Year 4 hand-sewed their own teddy bear and some even managed to make some teddy bear size clothes.

Year 4’s should enjoy their summer holidays.

See you in 2021.

Mrs. Victoria Kelly
